Privacy Policy

Lightning Locator is developed by Envision Development LLC. We designed the app to perform its core calculations on your iPhone and to minimize data collection.

Information we collect

Envision Development LLC does not collect, store, sell, or use personal information from the Lightning Locator app for advertising, analytics, tracking, or profiling.

The app does not require an account and does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs operated by us.

Information used on your device

To provide its core functionality, Lightning Locator may access and use the following information on your iPhone:

• Location: your current location is used as the starting point for an estimated strike coordinate.
• Compass heading: the direction the phone is pointing is used to estimate the direction of the observed lightning.
• Timing: the elapsed time between the flash and the thunder is used to estimate distance.

These values are used for the calculation performed by the app. They are not transmitted to or stored by Envision Development LLC.

Maps and Apple services

Lightning Locator uses Apple’s MapKit to display map content. Map rendering may involve communication with Apple services. Apple’s handling of information through its services is governed by Apple’s own privacy policies. You can review the Apple Privacy Policy.

Support communications

If you contact us for support, we receive the information you voluntarily provide in your message, such as your email address and the contents of your request. We use this information only to respond to and manage your support request. Support email is separate from the Lightning Locator app and does not change the app’s on-device data practices.

Data retention and deletion

Because Envision Development LLC does not collect Lightning Locator’s location, heading, timing, or strike-estimate data, we do not retain that information on company servers. If you contact us for support, we may retain your support correspondence as reasonably necessary to respond to your request and maintain support records. You may request deletion of support correspondence by emailing support@lightninglocator.app.

Tracking, advertising, and analytics

Lightning Locator does not use cross-app tracking, targeted advertising, or third-party analytics operated by Envision Development LLC.

This website

This website does not provide user accounts or a contact form and does not use analytics or advertising configured by Envision Development LLC. It is hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure. Cloudflare may process technical network information necessary to deliver and protect the website under its own privacy terms.

Changes to this policy

If Lightning Locator’s data practices materially change, this policy will be updated to reflect those changes. The effective date at the top of this page will also be updated.
